Anaesthetic Fees

West Kent Anaesthetic Group LLP is a partnership that sets its own fees for anaesthetic services. We adhere to Anaesthetic practice in the independent sector 2018 guidelines published by The Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland.

Patients with Private Medical Insurance

All the major private medical insurance companies publish their own fee schedule, which determines the level of reimbursement offered to their customers for any given anaesthetic procedure. These companies do not determine the anaesthetic fee itself.

The majority of private medical insurance companies cover our fees, but you are advised to check whether this is the case in advance. Please contact our Practice Manager using the contact form on this website, or via direct email or phone for more fee information. There can be differences between different insurers and also between different policies offered by the same insurer. In the event that your insurer does not cover the full fee, you may be required to pay the difference, or "shortfall".

For some medical insurers, if you provide the hospital you are treated at with your insurance policy details and have obtained pre-authorisation from the insurer for your treatment, we can usually settle the invoice for the anaesthetic fees directly with your insurer. Depending on the type of policy you have, and whether or not you have an excess on your policy, the insurer may reimburse the invoice amount in full, or they may advise us to ask you to pay part of the fees yourself. This “shortfall” amount arises usually because of the type of policy you have.

Please note, even if you do have private health insurance, you remain liable for fees as our contract for services is with you and not with your insurer. If we cannot obtain settlement of our invoice from the insurer, we will contact you via our medical billing company, MedServ, for payment.

Self-funding Patients

If you are having your procedure as a fixed price or all-inclusive package at KIMS Hospital or The Nuffield Hospital Tunbridge Wells, then the anaesthetic fee will usually be included in your bill and there should be no additional charge.

For all other patients, or where the anaesthetic fee is not included in the quote you receive from the hospital, please contact our Practice Manager using the contact form on this website, or via direct email or phone.

If you know the Procedure code(s) for your planned operation, you can use the search below to find our standard fee, although please note that our published fees may vary depending on the specific case, and should only be taken as a guide. For multiple procedures, we usually charge 100% of the fee for the main code, 50% for a second code and, in some cases, 25% for a third code.
